To answer this you should ask yourself a few questions. Namely,
1.) Do I have a family history of Celiac disease?
2.) How many of the below symptoms do I have?
- Heart palpitations
- Constipation
- Diahhrea
- Gas/Bloating
- Painful sore intestines
- Osteoporosis
- Skin rashes/itching
- Irritability
- Depression
- Chronic fatigue
- Acid reflux
- Hiatal hernia
- Hair loss
- Fibromyalgia (sore areas on skin)
- Lactose intolerance
- Anxiety attacks
- Obsessive compulsive disorder
- Short stature
- Eczema, seborriah or psoriasis
- Easy bruising
- Joint pain
- Swelling
- Early menopause
- Irregular menstrual cycles
- Tooth enamel problems/decay
- Weight gain/loss
- Vomiting
- Intense cravings
- High cholesterol
- High blood pressure
- Restless leg syndrome
- Muscle cramps
- Mind "fog"
- Vision changes
- Tingling in hands while sleeping
- Itchy ear canals
Keep in mind this is a rather atypical list. It was compiled from a variety of different people who have Celiac disease who experience these symptoms. It wouldn't be a bad idea to print this page out and check off what symptoms, if any, you have. It is also possible that you may exhibit no symptoms at all while still having the disease. If you're reading this right now and you suspect you have Celiac disease, click here to read about getting tested.
